We also accept larger blankets through our headquarters!  We coordinate and package these special blankets with other existing clothing items before distribution to a hospital in need.

Blanket sizing for "regular blankets":
Anything between 18 x 18 inches and 22 x 22 inches is considered a "small regular blanket"
Anything between 22 x 22 inches and 24 x 24 inches is considered a "large regular blanket"

What Materials Should I Use?
All materials are welcome for bereavement blankets. Flannel, cotton, quilted, crocheted, knitted, knits. Whatever your skills and resources are, blankets bless families!  And if you use cotton, you must use flannel on one side that is the soft side against their extra fragile angel baby skin.  Flannel blankets should always be double thickness to help with the moisture of these very small babies.  It is also OK to put cotton on one side and flannel on the other side.  No batting, please.

For volunteers that are interested in crocheting (or knitting), we are always in need of quality crochet/knitted blankets that are 24x24 inches square! Pastels and whites with simple patterns are strongly preferred for the are of coordinating them into layette sets.  Knitted or crocheted blankets should be closely woven with no large holes for extremely tiny hands and legs to be caught on or slip through. PLEASE use soft baby yarn, like Caron Simply Soft, Bernat Softee, and Bernat Baby Sport.  They are are all very popular brands with our volunteers.   Please do not use worsted yarns. They are far too abrasive on delicate angel baby skin.

There are many wonderful crochet and knit patterns that perfectly fit the needs we have for our program. The C2C or Corner2Corner crochet pattern is very popular with our volunteers. This blanket works up quickly and has a nice, close weave.  You can find the pattern here:  Corner2Corner Pattern Link or a tutorial here: Corner2Corner Video Tutorial (YouTube)
